- The Royals score ten runs in the first inning; still lose to Cleveland 15-13. Only the Bad News Bears would be more predictable.
- The Pirates won their series against a broken, shattered Atlanta Braves. Somehow, this is all Jane Fonda's fault.
- The Cubs continue their mediocre stumble, going down in the ninth to Philadelphia for the fourth straight loss. Miraculously, they manage not to regain their title as third-worst team in baseball. Way to go, Cubs! (Or shall I say, thank you Tampa Bay Devil Rays!
